Wolfberries in DEL-Care

Do you know that in DEL-Care, we constantly cook wolfberries into our oats, or our porridge? We are with you. We only want the best for the children, thus we go to the expense of buying wolfberries to add to the children’s meals to ensure they are getting nutritious meals.

The wolfberry has a lot going for it. It is called Gou Qi Zi (wolf, energy, berry) in Mandarin and is a red berry from the Solanaceae nightshade family that includes tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, and peppers. In English, we know it commonly as Goji.

For more than 2000 years, wolfberries grew wild in China. They are used in recipes and traditional Chinese medicine. In the 18th century, farmers called Goji wolfberries when they saw wolves feasting in the berry-laden vines in late summer at harvest time. (Guess you could say the wolves were rather smart!)

The wolfberry is nutrient dense and is considered a national treasure in China. It is now exported to first-world countries, mostly in Europe and the US.

Wolfberries show potential benefits against:

  • Cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases
  • Diabetes
  • Premature aging
  • Vision degeneration
  • Memory deficits
  • Lung disorders
  • Disease of oxidative stress

In a nutshell, wolfberries are exceptionally rich in antioxidants, and are micronutrient dense, and contain key phytochemicals like carotenoids and polysaccharides for good health.

Won’t you try some wolfberries today with your child?
